Brattleboro's cross-country skiing community is thriving, thanks in part to the dedication of BUHS co-coach Dave Johnston, who recently completed a competitive race in New Hampshire, finishing 26th overall. Current Brattleboro Bears, including Nordic team members, are inspired by their coach’s passion and accomplishments, as they continue to pursue their own skiing aspirations. With exciting events like the upcoming Cross-Country World Cup in Lake Placid, local athletes are poised to make their mark, building on a rich tradition of skiing excellence in Southern Vermont.

Brattleboro Bears have made a remarkable impact this winter sports season, showcasing outstanding talent in both girls basketball and Nordic skiing. Senior Reese Croutworst marked a career milestone by scoring her 1,000th point and earned a spot on the A Division first team, while her teammate Emerson Frehsee received honorable mention. In Nordic skiing, Nico Conathan-Leach, Maayan Coleman, and Xela Nestel all excelled, securing spots on the all-star teams and highlighting Brattleboro's strong athletic legacy.

The third annual Pond Skim at Brattleboro Ski Hill is back, inviting Brattleboro Bears and community members for a fun-filled day of splashes and style this Saturday! With youth-focused age categories and a vibrant atmosphere, the event celebrates the achievements of local student-athletes while marking the ski season's end. Join us for hot cocoa, snacks, and some thrilling pond-skimming action as we cheer on our Bears!

In a thrilling throwback to 1986, Brattleboro Union High School's boys' basketball team clinched their first Vermont State Championship with a nail-biting 60-59 victory over St. Johnsbury Academy. Led by Coach Bill Holiday, the team showcased an unrivaled spirit and teamwork, with standout performances from Jason Coplan and Pete LaMorder, making it a cherished moment for Brattleboro Bears past and present. This historic win is a testament to the strong community roots and enduring legacy of sports excellence at BUHS, inspiring today's athletes to strive for greatness on and off the court.

Gabe Alexander, a standout defenseman for the Brattleboro Bears hockey team, has been selected to participate in the prestigious 40th Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic on March 21. As the only player from Brattleboro chosen for this year’s event, Alexander represents our community with pride among Vermont's top senior hockey talent. Tickets for this exciting doubleheader event are available online and at the venue, with proceeds benefiting local initiatives and scholarships.

Brattleboro Bears faced tough challenges in the recent playoffs, with the boys basketball team finishing their season with an 8-13 record after a loss to Mount Mansfield. The girls hockey team ended their campaign at 0-18-1, highlighted by a memorable tie against Burr & Burton.
