Brattleboro's cross-country skiing community is thriving, thanks in part to the dedication of BUHS co-coach Dave Johnston, who recently completed a competitive race in New Hampshire, finishing 26th overall. Current Brattleboro Bears, including Nordic team members, are inspired by their coach’s passion and accomplishments, as they continue to pursue their own skiing aspirations. With exciting events like the upcoming Cross-Country World Cup in Lake Placid, local athletes are poised to make their mark, building on a rich tradition of skiing excellence in Southern Vermont.

SVL announces first round of winter sports all-stars

Brattleboro Bears have made a remarkable impact this winter sports season, showcasing outstanding talent in both girls basketball and Nordic skiing. Senior Reese Croutworst marked a career milestone by scoring her 1,000th point and earned a spot on the A Division first team, while her teammate Emerson Frehsee received honorable mention. In Nordic skiing, Nico Conathan-Leach, Maayan Coleman, and Xela Nestel all excelled, securing spots on the all-star teams and highlighting Brattleboro's strong athletic legacy.
