The Brattleboro Union High School Athletic Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2026 inductees, celebrating outstanding multi-sport athletes and a legendary undefeated hockey team. Among the honorees are standout athletes like Kernie Claflin and Matt Henry, who have not only excelled on the field but also left a lasting legacy in the Brattleboro community. Brattleboro Union High School alum Reese Croutworst has earned a prestigious spot on the United Soccer Coaches High School Scholar All-America Team, recognizing her excellence both in academics and on the soccer field. With a remarkable 4.00 GPA and a record-setting 80 goals during her time as a Bear, Croutworst not only led the team to its first playoff victory since 2007 but also made history as BUHS's all-time leading scorer. As she prepares to continue her athletic journey at Springfield College, her achievements continue to inspire current and future Brattleboro athletes.

This summer, the sounds of baseball resonate once more at Tenney Field, thanks to its recent renovations and a revitalized schedule of games. Brattleboro Bears athletes are taking to the field alongside Post 5 American Legion teams, showcasing their talent during state and regional tournaments. With ongoing support from the community and a strong tradition in baseball, the future looks bright for local teams, including hopes for high school championship games at this historic venue.

The Brattleboro Bears softball team celebrated a promising victory against Rutland, securing a 17-5 win and showcasing their potential for the season. Led by standout performances from freshmen Hannah Squires and Alyssa Jones, who scored a combined seven runs, the team's resilience shines through despite earlier setbacks. As they prepare for upcoming challenges, Coach Erin Cooke emphasizes the importance of teamwork and maintaining a positive mindset, setting the stage for a competitive season ahead!

In a spirited season opener, the Brattleboro Bears ultimate team faced off against Burr & Burton, ultimately falling 15-5. Despite a challenging start, the Bears showed resilience in the second half, with seniors Riley Bristol and Elijah Cummings each scoring two goals, and junior Levi Green contributing three assists. Coach Nathan Blunk commended the team’s determination and improvement, setting a positive tone as they prepare for their next match against Leland & Gray this Saturday.
