Join the Brattleboro Bears and the community for the 14th annual Tulip Trot 5K Race on May 2 at Green Street School! This beloved event not only promotes health and wellness but also supports vital enrichment programs for local students. With fun and fitness for everyone, including a special kids' fun run, it's a perfect way to celebrate spring and community spirit together!

The Brattleboro Bears are geared up for an exciting basketball season, bringing back nine experienced players, including Mason Andrews and Tyson LaFarr, while welcoming nine newcomers eager to make their mark. Head coach Tyler Boone emphasizes the team's focus on teamwork and skill development, aiming for not just individual scoring but also a strong collective effort. As they navigate their challenging schedule and new postseason format, the Bears are determined to build on their recent success and foster a fun environment for all their athletes.

The recent 24 Hours of Stratton event, held at Stratton Mountain Resort, saw an astounding record of $465,859 raised to support essential programs for children in southern Vermont, showcasing the dedication of our community. Local athletes, including Brattleboro Bears, participated in this incredible endurance challenge, bringing together nearly 900 participants for a cause that truly makes a difference. This milestone year highlights the ongoing commitment of Brattleboro to empower youth, with over $4 million raised since the event's inception in 2012.

Ayoub Lajhar, a former standout at Brattleboro Union High School, has made waves in Major League Soccer after being drafted by FC Cincinnati. His journey from Libya to Brattleboro highlights the resilience and support of the local community, which played a crucial role in shaping his success both on and off the field. After excelling in college soccer at UConn, Lajhar's impressive debut—contributing two assists in a recent match—has marked him as a rising star in professional soccer, inspiring current Brattleboro Bears with his dedication and ambition.

Brattleboro Union High School's legacy of excellence in athletics owes much to the late Coach Andy Natowich, who spent over three decades shaping the Brattleboro Bears' sports culture. Brattleboro Bears made their mark at the 24th annual Vermont North/South All-Star Football Classic, showcasing talent among local athletes. Colby Bristol and Lucas Speno represented BUHS on the South squad, contributing to the competitive spirit of the game. Their participation highlights not only their hard work but also the growing legacy of Brattleboro Union High School in Vermont football.

Exciting news for Brattleboro as the 2026 Harris Hill Ski Jump has been selected as a Junior World Qualifier, marking a prestigious opportunity for our local athletes and fans. This event will bring top junior jumpers from across the country to showcase their skills right here in Brattleboro, raising the competition level and spotlighting the talents of the Brattleboro Bears. Join us on February 13-15 for an unforgettable weekend of ski jumping that promises thrilling performances and community spirit!

Brattleboro Union High School's sports scene shone brightly this fall, with standout performances recognized by the Vermont Soccer Coaches Association. Senior forward Reese Croutworst made history as the all-time leading goal scorer while earning a spot on the Division 1 girls' all-state list, leading the Bears to their first playoff win in 16 years. Junior midfielder Eason DeMarsico was also selected for the Division 1 boys' all-state list, as he gears up to further elevate the Bears' legacy next season.

The Brattleboro community rallied for a great cause during the Boys & Girls Club's annual fundraiser, Going the Distance, where 42 cyclists logged an impressive 2,086.7 miles. With additional support from local families participating in the Walk a Mile for Your Club, the event raised $54,000, ensuring vital programs continue to serve over 1,000 local youth, including many aspiring Brattleboro Bears. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the generous sponsors and community partners who made this event possible!

Brattleboro Bears senior Colby Bristol and lineman Lucas Speno have showcased their leadership on the field, helping secure Brattleboro's first victory in over two years with a thrilling 30-22 win over North Country. As they represent the South roster in the upcoming North/South All-Star Football Classic, they aim to bring home a win for the South team against the North this Sunday. Celebrate our Bears and their remarkable resilience as they continue to make their mark in Brattleboro sports!

Tragically, Brattleboro lost a beloved former student-athlete, Darek Harvey, who passed away in a vehicle crash last week. Known for his impressive skills as a goaltender for the Brattleboro varsity hockey team, Darek made unforgettable contributions on the ice, notably securing a stunning victory against Middlebury in February 2022. As the community mourns this profound loss, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to support his family during this difficult time.
