This beloved event not only promotes health and wellness but also supports vital enrichment programs for local students. With fun and fitness for everyone, including a special kids' fun run, it's a perfect way to celebrate spring and community spirit together!

The Brattleboro Bears are geared up for an exciting basketball season, bringing back nine experienced players, including Mason Andrews and Tyson LaFarr, while welcoming nine newcomers eager to make their mark. Head coach Tyler Boone emphasizes the team's focus on teamwork and skill development, aiming for not just individual scoring but also a strong collective effort. As they navigate their challenging schedule and new postseason format, the Bears are determined to build on their recent success and foster a fun environment for all their athletes.

The recent 24 Hours of Stratton event, held at Stratton Mountain Resort, saw an astounding record of $465,859 raised to support essential programs for children in southern Vermont, showcasing the dedication of our community. Local athletes, including Brattleboro Bears, participated in this incredible endurance challenge, bringing together nearly 900 participants for a cause that truly makes a difference. This milestone year highlights the ongoing commitment of Brattleboro to empower youth, with over $4 million raised since the event's inception in 2012.

Ayoub Lajhar, a former standout at Brattleboro Union High School, has made waves in Major League Soccer after being drafted by FC Cincinnati. His journey from Libya to Brattleboro highlights the resilience and support of the local community, which played a crucial role in shaping his success both on and off the field. After excelling in college soccer at UConn, Lajhar's impressive debut—contributing two assists in a recent match—has marked him as a rising star in professional soccer, inspiring current Brattleboro Bears with his dedication and ambition.

Brattleboro Union High School's legacy of excellence in athletics owes much to the late Coach Andy Natowich, who spent over three decades shaping the Brattleboro Bears' sports culture. In a fierce matchup against Spaulding, the Brattleboro Bears girls ice hockey team showcased their determination despite a tough 9-1 loss. Jaidyn Denny opened the scoring with a brilliant goal, and goalkeeper Dakota VonFeldt delivered an impressive 39 saves, highlighting her skills throughout the game. As the Bears prepare for their upcoming game against U-32, the spirit and resilience of Brattleboro's student-athletes continue to inspire the community.

In a spirited game against Rutland, Brattleboro Bears junior Hudson Smith shone brightly, scoring a career-high 21 points despite the team's 82-60 loss. Coach Winston Sailsman Jr. praised Smith’s performance and potential, highlighting the importance of learning and growth for the young Bears. As they prepare to face Windsor next, the Bears remain determined to build on their strengths and improve as the season progresses.

The Brattleboro Bears' girls gymnastics team celebrated a triumphant home opener, securing a decisive victory against Middlebury with a score of 126.3 to 89.7. Lauren Chute led the charge, earning first place in four events, showcasing her exceptional skills alongside solid performances from teammates Hailey Richards and Sadie Cheslawski. The Bears are excited to build on this momentum in their upcoming home meet against St. Johnsbury, with hopes of continuing to inspire the local community.

The Bellows Falls girls basketball team is showing resilience and experience this season, despite facing early challenges. Get ready for downhill thrills as the Brattleboro Ski Hill at Living Memorial Park opens this Saturday, thanks to dedicated volunteers who have prepared an excellent snow base despite recent rain. Brattleboro Bears and their families can hit the slopes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, making it a perfect weekend for celebrating our local winter sports community!

In their season opener, the Brattleboro Bears faced a tough challenge against Missisquoi Valley, ultimately falling 7-0 at the Withington Skating Facility. Despite the loss, sophomore Colby Robinson and junior Eli Edwards showed promise, with new goalkeeper Silas Golding making an impressive 44 saves in his first varsity start. Brattleboro native Peter-Owen Hayward has been inducted into the Syracuse University Men’s Hockey Club Hall of Fame, celebrating a stellar college career where he set multiple scoring records.
