As temperatures plunge in Brattleboro, the dedicated volunteers at Brattleboro Ski Hill have kicked off the snow-making season, utilizing newly acquired equipment to prepare the hill for winter fun. With a hopeful eye on a Christmas Eve opening, the Brattleboro Bears can look forward to an exciting season ahead, thanks to community support and innovative upgrades. This winter, the local sports spirit shines bright as student-athletes gear up for thrilling snowy adventures!

Brattleboro Bears are shining examples of sportsmanship this season, as they were recognized among the finalists for the inaugural Vermont Soccer Officials Association Sportsmanship Award. This honor highlights the exemplary behavior of our student-athletes, coaches, and community, showcasing the strong bond and respect that defines Brattleboro Union High School soccer. Brattleboro Bears made their mark at the 24th annual Vermont North/South All-Star Football Classic, showcasing talent among local athletes. Colby Bristol and Lucas Speno represented BUHS on the South squad, contributing to the competitive spirit of the game. Their participation highlights not only their hard work but also the growing legacy of Brattleboro Union High School in Vermont football.

Exciting news for Brattleboro as the 2026 Harris Hill Ski Jump has been selected as a Junior World Qualifier, marking a prestigious opportunity for our local athletes and fans. This event will bring top junior jumpers from across the country to showcase their skills right here in Brattleboro, raising the competition level and spotlighting the talents of the Brattleboro Bears. Join us on February 13-15 for an unforgettable weekend of ski jumping that promises thrilling performances and community spirit!

Brattleboro Union High School's sports scene shone brightly this fall, with standout performances recognized by the Vermont Soccer Coaches Association. Senior forward Reese Croutworst made history as the all-time leading goal scorer while earning a spot on the Division 1 girls' all-state list, leading the Bears to their first playoff win in 16 years. Junior midfielder Eason DeMarsico was also selected for the Division 1 boys' all-state list, as he gears up to further elevate the Bears' legacy next season.

The Brattleboro community rallied for a great cause during the Boys & Girls Club's annual fundraiser, Going the Distance, where 42 cyclists logged an impressive 2,086.7 miles. With additional support from local families participating in the Walk a Mile for Your Club, the event raised $54,000, ensuring vital programs continue to serve over 1,000 local youth, including many aspiring Brattleboro Bears. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the generous sponsors and community partners who made this event possible!

The Brattleboro Bears girls soccer team is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, featuring a strong roster of 20, including standout senior Reese Croutworst, the school’s all-time leading goal scorer. With returning talent and promising new players, head coach Jay Cudworth is determined to break past early playoff exits and achieve success in the coveted Lady Patriot tournament. With a talented roster of 22 players, including six returning seniors, head coach Erin Cooke is confident that their increased speed and team spirit will drive them forward. The Bears kick off their season with an away game at Woodstock, aiming to keep up the momentum and showcase their growth on the field.

This Saturday, the Brattleboro Bears will showcase their talent at the 15th annual Lee Goldsmith Memorial Soccer Tournament at Middle Willow Park. Joining local teams like Burr and Burton and Rutland, Brattleboro aims to honor the legacy of Lee Goldsmith, a passionate scholar-athlete whose spirit continues to inspire. With exciting matches and a no offside rule, fans can expect a thrilling day of soccer starting at 11 a.m.
