As winter comes to a close, the Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department is preparing for the spring season by clearing the ice from the Nelson Withington Ice Skating facility. This transition marks an exciting time for Brattleboro Bears, as they gear up for spring sports and activities that celebrate our local student-athletes and community. Stay tuned for updates on the achievements and events highlighting our talented Bears this season!

Brattleboro Bears have made impressive strides in the Vermont Basketball Coaches’ Association awards and boys hockey all-league selections this season. Myah Waite earned a VBCA scholarship, while Reese Croutworst scored 1,248 points, making her second in school history. In hockey, Gabe Alexander received an all-league honorable mention and will showcase his talents at the upcoming Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic.

Brattleboro Bears Hudson Smith and Logan Waite received honorable mentions in the A Division of the Southern Vermont League, showcasing their talents while leading the team to an 8-13 record, highlighted by a significant victory over eventual semifinalist Burr & Burton. Additionally, local athletes like Brayden and Landon Brown from Twin Valley made a notable impact in the C Division, demonstrating the strength of Brattleboro's sports community this season. The Brattleboro Union High School boys hockey team is gearing up for its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser on February 18, showcasing both their culinary talents and community spirit while supporting their successful season of 8-4-1. With an impressive team score of 130.950, the Bears are set to compete again on February 8 at the Gibson Aiken Center.

Brattleboro Union High School alumnus Chris Lamb, a former record-holder at the Harris Hill Ski Jump, is set to compete again in February 2025, sharing firsthand insights on the thrill of the jump in the recent "Harris Hill Ski Jump, the Art of Flying" podcast episode.
