As temperatures plunge in Brattleboro, the dedicated volunteers at Brattleboro Ski Hill have kicked off the snow-making season, utilizing newly acquired equipment to prepare the hill for winter fun. With a hopeful eye on a Christmas Eve opening, the Brattleboro Bears can look forward to an exciting season ahead, thanks to community support and innovative upgrades. This winter, the local sports spirit shines bright as student-athletes gear up for thrilling snowy adventures!

Brattleboro Bears are shining examples of sportsmanship this season, as they were recognized among the finalists for the inaugural Vermont Soccer Officials Association Sportsmanship Award. This honor highlights the exemplary behavior of our student-athletes, coaches, and community, showcasing the strong bond and respect that defines Brattleboro Union High School soccer. Congratulations to our Bears for embodying the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship!

Brattleboro Bears made their mark at the 24th annual Vermont North/South All-Star Football Classic, showcasing talent among local athletes. Colby Bristol and Lucas Speno represented BUHS on the South squad, contributing to the competitive spirit of the game. Their participation highlights not only their hard work but also the growing legacy of Brattleboro Union High School in Vermont football.

Exciting news for Brattleboro as the 2026 Harris Hill Ski Jump has been selected as a Junior World Qualifier, marking a prestigious opportunity for our local athletes and fans. This event will bring top junior jumpers from across the country to showcase their skills right here in Brattleboro, raising the competition level and spotlighting the talents of the Brattleboro Bears. Join us on February 13-15 for an unforgettable weekend of ski jumping that promises thrilling performances and community spirit!

Brattleboro Union High School's sports scene shone brightly this fall, with standout performances recognized by the Vermont Soccer Coaches Association. Senior forward Reese Croutworst made history as the all-time leading goal scorer while earning a spot on the Division 1 girls' all-state list, leading the Bears to their first playoff win in 16 years. Junior midfielder Eason DeMarsico was also selected for the Division 1 boys' all-state list, as he gears up to further elevate the Bears' legacy next season.

The Brattleboro community rallied for a great cause during the Boys & Girls Club's annual fundraiser, Going the Distance, where 42 cyclists logged an impressive 2,086.7 miles. With additional support from local families participating in the Walk a Mile for Your Club, the event raised $54,000, ensuring vital programs continue to serve over 1,000 local youth, including many aspiring Brattleboro Bears. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the generous sponsors and community partners who made this event possible!

In a thrilling playoff match, the Brattleboro Bears secured their first postseason win since 2007 by defeating Burlington 4-2 in a penalty shootout. Junior Sadie Cheslawski and senior Reese Croutworst led the charge, with junior Emerson Frehsee stepping up in goal to make crucial saves, including in the shootout. This victory propels the Bears into the D1 quarterfinals, where they will face No. 5 St. Johnsbury this Saturday, a significant milestone for the team as they aim to build on their hard-earned success.

In a thrilling Division 4 playoff match, the Leland & Gray girls soccer team triumphed over Danville, advancing to the quarterfinals thanks to clutch performances from Lily Litchfield and Sophia Hallock. Meanwhile, the Brattleboro Bears boys soccer team wrapped up their season with a 6-9 record after a tough 3-0 loss to Rutland in the playoffs. Despite the challenges, both teams showcased the resilience and spirit of Brattleboro's athletes this fall.

As the Vermont fall sports playoffs kick off, the Brattleboro Bears are ready to make their mark. The Division 1 girls soccer team, ranked No. 4, will host No. 13 Burlington on Wednesday, while the boys soccer team prepares for a challenging match against No. 5 Rutland. Additionally, the Bears' cross country team will compete in the state meet on Saturday, showcasing the incredible talent and determination of our local athletes!

In a thrilling contest for the Elwell Trophy, the Brattleboro Bears fought valiantly against Mount Anthony, showcasing heroic performances on the field. Quarterback Logan Casey connected with Sean Cozza for a stunning 59-yard touchdown, putting Brattleboro ahead 7-6; however, a last-second field goal from MAU clinched a narrow 9-7 victory. Despite the loss, the Bears displayed their resilience and skill as they gear up to seek their first win of the season against North Country this Friday.

On a memorable senior night, Reese Croutworst led the Brattleboro Bears to a stunning 8-2 victory over Woodstock, scoring six goals and setting a new school record with her 79th career goal. The Bears, under the guidance of Coach Jay Cudworth, showcased their impressive growth with consecutive 10-win seasons, a testament to the dedication of their senior class. As the regular season concludes, the Bears look ahead to the playoffs, building on their remarkable achievements and team spirit.

The Brattleboro Bears kicked off strong with an early goal by junior Oscar Dawson, but ultimately fell to Burr & Burton 5-1 in a tough matchup. Coach Jonathan Elwell praised the team’s effort, highlighting the performances of junior Eason DeMarsico and freshman Gavin McLoughlin as key contributors. As the Bears prepare for their next game against Springfield, they continue to demonstrate resilience and competitive spirit on the field.

Despite a challenging start, the Brattleboro Bears showcased resilience in their football game against Rutland, rallying to outscore their opponents in the second half. Senior running back John Harrison scored a touchdown, while Coach Chad Pacheco noted the strong performances of offensive lineman Cooper LaFlam and quarterback Logan Casey. With their sights set on reclaiming the Elwell Trophy next week against Mount Anthony, the Bears are eager to bring home a win that fans won't forget.

In a tightly contested match, the Brattleboro Bears field hockey team fought valiantly but fell to the two-time defending state champions, Hartford, with a final score of 2-1. Junior Elizabeth LaClair netted the team's only goal, with a crucial assist from senior Basma Rifaiy, showcasing the Bears' determination and skill. Head coach Erin Cooke praised the defensive efforts and overall teamwork, setting the stage for their upcoming homecoming game against Rutland on Saturday.
