Brattleboro Bears have made impressive strides in the Vermont Basketball Coaches’ Association awards and boys hockey all-league selections this season. Myah Waite earned a VBCA scholarship, while Reese Croutworst scored 1,248 points, making her second in school history. In hockey, Gabe Alexander received an all-league honorable mention and will showcase his talents at the upcoming Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic.

Brattleboro Bears Hudson Smith and Logan Waite received honorable mentions in the A Division of the Southern Vermont League, showcasing their talents while leading the team to an 8-13 record, highlighted by a significant victory over eventual semifinalist Burr & Burton. Additionally, local athletes like Brayden and Landon Brown from Twin Valley made a notable impact in the C Division, demonstrating the strength of Brattleboro's sports community this season. As these young athletes continue to excel, they represent not only their teams but also the pride of Brattleboro.

Brattleboro's cross-country skiing community is thriving, thanks in part to the dedication of BUHS co-coach Dave Johnston, who recently completed a competitive race in New Hampshire, finishing 26th overall. Current Brattleboro Bears, including Nordic team members, are inspired by their coach’s passion and accomplishments, as they continue to pursue their own skiing aspirations. With exciting events like the upcoming Cross-Country World Cup in Lake Placid, local athletes are poised to make their mark, building on a rich tradition of skiing excellence in Southern Vermont.

Brattleboro Bears have made a remarkable impact this winter sports season, showcasing outstanding talent in both girls basketball and Nordic skiing. Senior Reese Croutworst marked a career milestone by scoring her 1,000th point and earned a spot on the A Division first team, while her teammate Emerson Frehsee received honorable mention. In Nordic skiing, Nico Conathan-Leach, Maayan Coleman, and Xela Nestel all excelled, securing spots on the all-star teams and highlighting Brattleboro's strong athletic legacy.

The third annual Pond Skim at Brattleboro Ski Hill is back, inviting Brattleboro Bears and community members for a fun-filled day of splashes and style this Saturday! With youth-focused age categories and a vibrant atmosphere, the event celebrates the achievements of local student-athletes while marking the ski season's end. Join us for hot cocoa, snacks, and some thrilling pond-skimming action as we cheer on our Bears!

In a thrilling throwback to 1986, Brattleboro Union High School's boys' basketball team clinched their first Vermont State Championship with a nail-biting 60-59 victory over St. Johnsbury Academy. The Brattleboro Bears boys lacrosse team capped off their season with a commendable run to the Division 2 quarterfinals, achieving their first playoff victory in 11 years. In a thrilling match against Spaulding, Alex Dick led the charge with three goals, helping secure a 9-5 win, while the team showed tenacity in their subsequent game despite facing the top-seeded Highlanders. The Brattleboro Bears faced a tough challenge in the Division 2 lacrosse quarterfinals, falling to Harwood with a final score of 16-1, concluding their season with a 5-13 record. Meanwhile, Bellows Falls' softball team advanced in the Division 3 playoffs with a commanding 16-4 victory over Randolph, showcasing the strength of local high school sports as teams push beyond the regular season. As the spring sports playoffs unfold, Brattleboro's athletic community continues to celebrate the dedication and achievements of its student-athletes.

Eight Brattleboro Bears showcased their talent at the recent boys state individual tournament, competing fiercely in singles and doubles matches. Standout performances included Malo Renault's victory in the first round and Eli Welch's competitive spirit against the No. 1 seed.
