Brattleboro Bears Hudson Smith and Logan Waite received honorable mentions in the A Division of the Southern Vermont League, showcasing their talents while leading the team to an 8-13 record, highlighted by a significant victory over eventual semifinalist Burr & Burton. Additionally, local athletes like Brayden and Landon Brown from Twin Valley made a notable impact in the C Division, demonstrating the strength of Brattleboro's sports community this season. Brattleboro's cross-country skiing community is thriving, thanks in part to the dedication of BUHS co-coach Dave Johnston, who recently completed a competitive race in New Hampshire, finishing 26th overall. Current Brattleboro Bears, including Nordic team members, are inspired by their coach’s passion and accomplishments, as they continue to pursue their own skiing aspirations. With exciting events like the upcoming Cross-Country World Cup in Lake Placid, local athletes are poised to make their mark, building on a rich tradition of skiing excellence in Southern Vermont.

Brattleboro Bears have made a remarkable impact this winter sports season, showcasing outstanding talent in both girls basketball and Nordic skiing. Senior Reese Croutworst marked a career milestone by scoring her 1,000th point and earned a spot on the A Division first team, while her teammate Emerson Frehsee received honorable mention. In Nordic skiing, Nico Conathan-Leach, Maayan Coleman, and Xela Nestel all excelled, securing spots on the all-star teams and highlighting Brattleboro's strong athletic legacy.

The third annual Pond Skim at Brattleboro Ski Hill is back, inviting Brattleboro Bears and community members for a fun-filled day of splashes and style this Saturday! With youth-focused age categories and a vibrant atmosphere, the event celebrates the achievements of local student-athletes while marking the ski season's end. Join us for hot cocoa, snacks, and some thrilling pond-skimming action as we cheer on our Bears!

In a thrilling throwback to 1986, Brattleboro Union High School's boys' basketball team clinched their first Vermont State Championship with a nail-biting 60-59 victory over St. Johnsbury Academy. Gabe Alexander, a standout defenseman for the Brattleboro Bears hockey team, has been selected to participate in the prestigious 40th Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic on March 21. As the only player from Brattleboro chosen for this year’s event, Alexander represents our community with pride among Vermont's top senior hockey talent. Tickets for this exciting doubleheader event are available online and at the venue, with proceeds benefiting local initiatives and scholarships.

The Brattleboro Bears girls soccer team is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, featuring a strong roster of 20, including standout senior Reese Croutworst, the school’s all-time leading goal scorer. With returning talent and promising new players, head coach Jay Cudworth is determined to break past early playoff exits and achieve success in the coveted Lady Patriot tournament. As the Bears take the field this season, all eyes will be on their efforts to transform their hard-earned regular season victories into playoff triumphs.

The Brattleboro Bears field hockey team is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, building on last year's success in the Division 2 playoffs. With a talented roster of 22 players, including six returning seniors, head coach Erin Cooke is confident that their increased speed and team spirit will drive them forward. The Bears kick off their season with an away game at Woodstock, aiming to keep up the momentum and showcase their growth on the field.

The Brattleboro Bears are gearing up for an exciting 2025 football season, bolstered by a roster of approximately 40 players, including 30 returning from last year. Under the guidance of Coach Chad Pacheco, the team is focused on unity and teamwork, with key players like seniors Donnevhan Hall and Colby Bristol leading both the offense and a strong defensive unit. As they prepare for their upcoming games, including a highly anticipated matchup against Mount Anthony, the Bears aim to turn the tide after a challenging previous season and strive for growth and competitiveness on the field.

Nico Conathan-Leach, a standout athlete from Brattleboro Union High School, triumphed in the first annual Guilford Triathlon Sprint, finishing the challenging course in just 1:20:05. The event, organized by BUHS's own Willow Sharma, showcased local talent and community spirit, drawing participants to tackle a unique and demanding route. Excitement is already brewing for next year's triathlon, as Sharma aims to enhance the experience and attract even more Brattleboro Bears to the course!

This Saturday, the Brattleboro Bears will showcase their talent at the 15th annual Lee Goldsmith Memorial Soccer Tournament at Middle Willow Park. Joining local teams like Burr and Burton and Rutland, Brattleboro aims to honor the legacy of Lee Goldsmith, a passionate scholar-athlete whose spirit continues to inspire. With exciting matches and a no offside rule, fans can expect a thrilling day of soccer starting at 11 a.m.

Nine Brattleboro Bears represented the Brattleboro Swim Team (BST) at the Vermont state meet in White River Junction, showcasing impressive talent and determination. Notable performances included Minna Farrell, who placed 12th in the girls six-and-under 25-yard backstroke, and the girls eight-and-under relay team, which finished 11th. With a fifth-place finish in Division V and strong individual showings, the Bears are looking forward to building on this season's successes as they prepare for next summer.

Brattleboro Union High School alum Brian Lashway has once again proven his athletic prowess by winning the Southern Vermont Decathlon for the fourth time in six years, narrowly edging out Weathersfield's Shane Mas. With standout performances across multiple events, including victories in the 400-meter dash and the one-mile run, Lashway's achievements highlight the continued excellence of Brattleboro Bears student-athletes in local competitions. Fellow BUHS athletes, such as Landon Mas and Jess Curtis, also showcased their talents, with Curtis matching Lashway's accomplishment by clinching her fourth overall title in the same event.
